This service is available to anyone over the age of 16 and is designed for patients who wish to delay their period for a particular situation, such as holidays, exams, weddings etc.
The usual dose to delay menstruation is one tablet three times daily with a drug called Norethisterone. The treatment should start 3 days before the expected onset of menstruation and continued for no longer than 10 to 14 days. Menstruation usually follows within three days of finishing the treatment
Norethisterone 5mg tablets can be used to delay your period by up to 14 days in any 6-month period. Women who wish to delay their period more than once every 6 months should consult their GP.
In certain circumstances, the treatment may not be suitable for you, and this will be assessed at the point of the request.
